Your Views: Patriotism is gone; PC, ignoring law now is in fashion

POSTED: May 20, 2010 1:00 a.m.

Can anyone please explain to me just exactly what is transpiring in this nation? It is beginning to appear like the years leading up to the rise of Nazi Germany in the early 1930s.

It is no longer fashionable to be patriotic. It seems it is now more important for individuals to express opinions and appear to be politically correct than to support the law. Law-abiding citizens are no longer safe and secure in their homes.

Is it right for a public official, paid a salary by taxpayers, to assist an illegal alien student to continue to violate federal immigration law? That is exactly what the president of Kennesaw State University has done for Jessica Colotl.

She violated our immigration laws, traffic laws and committed perjury to law enforcement officers. Members of the KSU alumni association are calling for alumni to refuse to donate.

Kennesaw State is attempting to gloss over the incident by announcing it will begin to charge the student out-of-state tuition. Law enforcement authorities are continuing to investigate the incident for other charges.

It has been admitted that the student's mother is here illegally and that there are dozens of students at Kennesaw State with the same status and circumstances.

The assistant school superintendent in Highland Park, Ill., refuses to permit the girls high school basketball team to go to Arizona to compete in a tournament because she disagrees with Arizona's new law. The law does not affect Illinois. Is it right to punish the girls because she disagrees? Where is the ACLU? These girls need help.

Nick Morris, a student at Klein Collins High School in Spring, Texas, has received a week's suspension and a notation on his high school transcript for theft of a flag. This is over his honorable and patriotic objection to a Mexican flag being displayed above the U.S. flag.

In California, students at Montebello High School took down the U.S. flag, replaced it with a Mexican flag on top and displayed the U.S. flag upside down. Los Angeles high school teacher Ron Goches, a self-admitted socialist, is calling for the overthrow of government and the annexation of our southwestern states by Mexico. Going so far to advocate a racist revolution, he was expressing praise for Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez.

Our president boasts that we are not a Christian nation and apologizes for our prior foreign policies. He is bowing, scraping and kowtowing before foreign leaders. Congress is spending us into bankruptcy and a massive depression. We have cities with 24 to 26 percent unemployment.

We have numerous school systems having to furlough teachers, lay off other educators and close schools, and President Barack Obama is advocating year-round school years.

We have to take back our nation. These are just a sample of the events occurring across our nation. Demand responsibility from our leaders. Stand up for your rights. As the song goes, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything."
