Fire damages home in Oakwood; one man treated for burns

One man was injured Wednesday night in a house fire on the 400 block of McClure Drive in Oakwood, Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell reported this morning.

Two men were in the 1,800-square-foot home at the time, one waking the other when the fire was discovered. One of the men suffered second-degree burns to his arm and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.

The men said they had a smoke alarm but that it did not go off.

Hall County fire fighters responded to the fire at 11:20 p.m. and found the home heavily involved in flames. By the time they could put it out, the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damages.
