Here’s one of the best tips I’ve ever been given on avoiding germs. Never press an elevator button with your finger. Instead, use your knuckle. Why? If you use your finger and get germs on it, there’s a risk that you’ll rub that finger near your eyes, mouth or nose. (Elevator buttons are about as nasty as bathroom door handles).
A reader recently asked me what she should do about a clogged spray nozzle. She had tried running hot water over it and even tried poking it with a pin with no success. I suggested soaking the nozzle in vinegar, lemon juice or REALLY hot water. Usually one of the three will work.
Tracy Tesmer, Gainesville’s home improvement guru, recommends using only white paint rollers instead of the yellow ones. Why? The white ones shed less lint.
I’m always suspicious of products sold on TV. However, I’ve tried out the Swivel Sweeper and I have to say it works. It won’t replace your vacuum cleaner, but it’s great for touching up the house before guests arrive.
