Lt. Col. Scott C. Poole recently deployed to Afghanistan where his mission is working with the Afghan National Army.

His home station is Fort Belvoir, Va.

He is the son of Lt. Col. James and Ann Poole of Jefferson, and the grandson of Connie Poole of Baldwin and Robert Masters of Demorest.

Air Force Airman John M. Keiley graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Keiley is the son of Lisa Lloyd of Gainesville.

He is a 2008 graduate of Park Vista Community High School in Lake Worth, Fla.
