Burglary suspect eludes police

Enota Elementary School notified of foot chase

POSTED: November 17, 2009 3:09 p.m.

A man wanted on burglary charges eluded arrest this morning, prompting police to notify Enota Elementary School officials that a foot chase was under way.

Police dogs were used to track burglary suspect Cedric Demory after he ran from police around 11 a.m. today, Lt. Carol Martin said.

The track did not lead to the area immediately surrounding the school, and police were unable to locate the suspect, Martin said.

School officials were notified as a precaution, she said.

Demory, 22, is wanted on burglary charges in connection with a residential break-in on Club Drive earlier this month, police said. He is known to frequent the Ridgecrest Apartments and Floyd Road. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Gainesville police at (770) 534-5254.
