Gainesville sloshes past Gilmer 36-7

Blake Sims scored four total touchdowns, two on passes to Tai-ler Jones, to lead top-ranked Gainesville to a 36-6 win over Gilmer on Friday night in Ellijay,

“It was a messy night in Elijay,” Gainesville coach Bruce Miller said of the conditions on the field. “Sims and Jones had real good nights and our guys were able to put up 36 points in the first half.”

Tyson Smith also scored a 7-yard touchdown for Gainesville (7-0, 3-0 Region 7B-AAA).

Despite giving up a late score Miller was pleased with his defense’s performance.

“Our defense played well again tonight,” he said. “I’m pretty satisfied with the results.”

Gainesville plays host to Johnson at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
