The cadets at Jefferson High School's Junior ROTC program celebrated the U.S. Air Force's 62nd birthday on Sept. 18. Before its creation with the signing of the National Security Act of 1947, the Air Force was part of the U.S. Army as the Army Air Corps.

In keeping with tradition, the youngest member of the unit, Jordan Schneider, and oldest member, Miguel Rodriguez, cut the cake.
