Football scoreboard: Raiders hold off Loganville, 31-27

David Griffin led Habersham Central with 129 rushing yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns in a 31-27 win over Loganville on Friday in Mount Airy.

 

Quarterback Austin Brown went 17-for-24 with 225 passing yards and two touchdowns for the Raiders.

 

On the receiving end of Brown’s touchdown passes, was senior Jamaal Walters who had five catches overall for 64 yards and two touchdowns for Habersham Central.

The Raiders visit Winder-Barrow at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Winder.

 

TOWNS COUNTY 48, HAYESVILLE (N.C.) 12: Towns County defeated Hayesville for the first time in a 26-year history on Friday at Frank McClure Stadium in Hiawassee.

 

Quarterback John Swilley led the Indians going 12-for-14 for 162 passing yards.

 

Matt Beni led the Indians on the ground with 14 carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns, and Matt Hogsed led in receiving with 4 catches, 86 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Towns county visits Dade County at 7:30 p.m. in Trenton.

 

BANKS COUNTY 18, RABUN COUNTY 14: Junior tight end Matthew Patton led Banks County rushing 82 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown in the Leopards’ win over Rabun County on Friday in Homer.

 

Chris Smith rushed for 77 yards on 15 carries and senior quarterback Kane Duncan rushed for 23 yards and a touchdown.

 

Duncan was also 4-for-7 with 43 yards in the air.

 

This week was difficult for the Leopards who entered this game without junior running back Dylan Lackey, one of the areas leading rushers, who has been benched the rest of season due to a torn ACL, and Clay Finks who is also a go-to-player on the ground.

 

Banks County visits North Oconee at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Bogart.

 

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 49, SKIPSTONE ACADEMY 7: Quarterback Joe Boonstra led North Georgia Christian with 99 passing yards for three touchdowns and rushed for 50 yards on three carries to get the win over Skipstone Academy Friday night in Gainesville.

 

Zach Pendley had 119 yards on seven receptions and four touchdowns, and Aaron Willis had four rushes for 77 yards and a touchdown.

 

North Georgia Christian visits Praise Academy at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Griffin.
