The Norfolk Tides defeat the Gwinnett Braves 7-1 on Sunday at Gwinnett Stadium in Lawrenceville.

Norfolk second baseman Justin Turner went 4-for-5 and was only a triple away from hitting for the cycle. Designated hitter Steve Torrealba went 1-for-3 and tallied three RBI.

For Gwinnett, Wes Timmons was 1-for-3 with an RBI and extended his league-best on-base streak to 29 games.

Outfielder Jordan Shafer was put back on the disabled list Sunday with a sprained left wrist.

The Tides Andy Mitchell recorded the win allowing only two hits and one earned run in 5.2 innings. Mitchell gave up five walks to the Braves, but the team was unable to convert the free passes into runs. Pitching 6.0 innings, Jonny Venters was tabbed with his second loss for Gwinnett. Venters allowed nine hits and five earned runs while striking out two.

Gwinnett plays their final home game before the All-Star Break Monday against Norfolk at 7:00 p.m. G-Braves RHP Todd Redmond (4-6, 4.91) will face RHP David Pauley (6-6, 4.11). Going into Monday’s game, the Braves hold a 3-6 record on the season against the Tides and have yet to beat their Southern Division foe at Gwinnett Stadium.
