The Hall County Planning Commission soon will hear a request to develop a community that was denied approval in 2007.

The 680-acre development off of Price Road at Dundy Hill Road will feature 918 homes and a few commercial buildings.

Hall County Planning Director Randy Knighton said the development is being proposed by "essentially" the same group that brought the first proposal before the board.

In 2007, a 418-acre, 608-home proposal by United Central Investments was approved 5-0 by the planning commission, but was unanimously denied by the Hall County Board of Commissioners after more than 50 North Hall residents came to a meeting to voice their disapproval.

"The commission didn’t feel it was appropriate," Knighton said.

Residents complained the area would be unable to handle the population influx, which would overcrowd schools, pollute Lake Lanier and clog roads, according to The Times archives.

United Central Investments’ new proposal goes before the planning commission July 20 and the Hall County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 13.

Some of the features of the 2007 application have resurfaced on the new application, including boat storage.

"There will be a commercial tract," Knighton said. "But some of the other features that were in the previous proposal will not be a part of this one."

Previously listed features included boat storage, a day care and office and retail space.
