JEFFERSON — A Hoschton woman has been indicted in the death of a local 14-year-old, according to Hoschton police officials.

Donna McDonald, a 37-year-old Hoschton resident, was indicted Monday by a Jackson County jury on eight charges: two counts of involuntary manslaughter, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two counts of reckless conduct, Hoschton Police Chief Jeremy Howell said.

McDonald was arrested on March 11 in connection with the death of Brittane Nichole Brown, a Jackson County Comprehensive High School freshman who was found dead at a Hoschton home on Dec. 27. Emergency personnel were called to 38 White St., where they found Brown unresponsive and declared her dead at the scene.

The GBI toxicology reports showed Brown had lethal amounts of oxycodone and alprazolam in her system. Oxycodone is a prescription pain killer and alprazolam is found in Xanax, a drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders.

Jim Fullington, special agent in charge of the Athens GBI office, said 40-year-old Mark Lee Ingram and two Hoschton juveniles were at the residence at the time of Brown’s death and also were arrested in March.

Ingram, who faces misdemeanor charges for possession of drug-related objects, possession of marijuana and maintaining a disorderly house, is awaiting his appearance in state court later this year.

One of the juveniles awaits trial while the other’s case has already been adjudicated, Howell said.

From here, McDonald will have an arraignment set, where she will enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, he said.
