POSTED: December 27, 2007 5:02 a.m.

Led by another stellar offensive game from Parker Smith, who finished with 31 points, Chestatee beat Lakeview 70-56 to take third place in the Jackson EMC Lanierland Basketball Tournament on Saturday at East Hall High. The War Eagles (5-2) started on a 7-0 run to begin the game and never looked back. They led by six after the first and 13 by halftime.

Chestatee then outscored the Lions 21-14 in the second quarter, with Smith contributing 15.

Lakeview (4-4) never led and only got as close at two points once early in the first period.

Branden Jovaag added 14 points for Chestatee. The Lions were led by David Pruett’s 13 points.

Lakeview returns to action on Dec. 27 when it begins play in the Battle of the Border Shootout in Landrum, S.C., while Chestatee next plays host to West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
