Rabid fox confirmed in North Hall area

The Gainesville-Hall County Animal Control Department has reported the 11th confirmed rabies case this year, the latest linked to a fox in the Payne Road area of North Hall.

The fox came in contact with a dog in the area Tuesday. The animal's remains were shipped Thursday to the Georgia Public Health Lab-Virology Section in Decatur, which tested it positive for rabies.

Residents in the area are asked to be on the alert for any animals acting abnormally. To report such a case, call Animal Control at 770-531-6830 during daytime hours, or Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 on nights and weekends.
