Clermont woman identified as Friday crash victim

POSTED: May 9, 2009 5:11 p.m.
A woman who died in a Friday rollover crash in North Hall that injured four others was identified Saturday as Elisha Sue Smith of Clermont.

Hall County Coroner Marion Merck said Smith, 26, was a passenger in a Ford Explorer that left Clarks Bridge Road on Friday afternoon and flipped several times.

The Georgia State Patrol has assigned a crash reconstruction team to investigate the one-car wreck, officials said.

A man injured in the crash remained in Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition Saturday. His name and age were not available from the Georgia State Patrol.

The patrol could also not provide the names, ages or conditions of three other people who were also injured in the crash.

Officials said the SUV was northbound on Clarks Bridge Road at high speed shortly before 3 p.m. when the driver lost control, crossed over the center line and left the road near Trinity United Methodist Church.

The SUV flipped several times before striking a fence and landing on its side. All of the occupants of the vehicle were ejected during the crash.

The state patrol has not yet determined whether speed or driving conditions were factors in the one-vehicle accident.
