A woman was killed and four other people were injured in a rollover accident in Clermont on Friday afternoon, officials said.

A Ford Explorer was northbound on Clarks Bridge Road at high speed shortly before 3 p.m. when the driver lost control, crossed over the center line and left the road near Trinity United Methodist Church, Georgia State Patrol Trooper Dallas Vanscoten said.

The SUV flipped several times before striking a fence and landing on its side. All the occupants of the vehicle were ejected during the crash, Vanscoten said.

A female passenger, whose age was not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was being withheld Friday pending notification of next of kin, Hall County Coroner Marion Merck said.

A man severely injured in the wreck was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

The three other occupants were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Their names, ages and conditions were not immediately available Friday.

The state patrol has not yet determined whether speed or driving conditions was a factor in the one-car accident. The crash remains under investigation.
