Oakwood plans green events for Saturday

POSTED: April 15, 2009 11:50 p.m.

Oakwood and Keep Hall Beautiful, with help from Gainesville, have scheduled a stream and roadside cleanup for Saturday.

The event is set to start at 8:30 a.m., with volunteers asked to meet in the Oakwood City Hall parking lot. The event will end at noon.

Litter pickup will take place along a portion of McEver Road, while the stream cleanup is on a segment of Balus Creek. Bags, gloves and litter tongs will be provided. Participants might want to wear boots or waders.

Chick-fil-A at 3405 Atlanta Highway in Oakwood will provide breakfast at City Hall. Volunteers also will be treated to a noon lunch at City Hall, courtesy of Wayne Farms LLC.

If the event is canceled because of bad weather, it will be reset to May 2.
