Hall County’s clerk has a lot on her plate.

Heather Bennett said her job is hard to sum up with just one sentence, but the best description is the official record keeper for the county.

"Generally keeping record of all the decisions that are made in the county," she said.

Bennett also acts as a liaison between the board of commissioners and the public.

"I enjoy contact with the public, the customer service aspect," Bennett said.

Bennett also makes sure the five commissioners are prepared for their work sessions and board meetings. She collects and assembles information for them to read about each of the agenda items before the meetings.

"I keep the commissioners organized and record the meetings," Bennett said.

Another important job Bennett juggles is processing all of Hall County’s open records requests. She makes sure any information the public requests is retrieved from the correct department. She also releases important information.

"I send out the public notices," she said.

Bennett is a busy woman outside of work, too.

"I’m a single mom and I have two children," she said.

Bennett said she enjoys spending time with daughters Priscilla, 15, and Claudia, 9.

She also plays softball in her free time and is a lifelong Hall County resident.

"I was born at Northeast Georgia Medical Center," Bennett said. "It’s a good place to live and raise a family."
