More rain is on the way

More than an inch has fallen in Gainesville in 24 hours

POSTED: March 15, 2009 5:17 p.m.

Nearly 1 1/4 inches of rain have fallen in the past 24 hours at the National Weather Service recording station at Gainesville's Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport.

And while no rain has fallen in the past couple of hours, plenty more could be on the way.

Hall County remains under a flood watch until Monday morning, according to the weather service.

The forecast calls for the chance of rain to increase to 90 percent Monday, with as much as three-fourths of an inch of rain expected.

A flood watch means that conditions are favorable for flooding, especially along larger streams and rivers.

Lake Lanier's water level was at 1,058.52 feet above sea level at 3:15 p.m. today, compared to 1,058.27 feet at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The full pool is 1,071 feet.
