POSTED: February 10, 2009 11:27 p.m.

A Gainesville woman has entered into a consent agreement with the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance that bans her from the mortgage business for three years.

Betty Ann Duff was accused in a cease-and-desist order of making false statements or misrepresenting material facts to a lender. With the agreement, Duff does not admit nor deny the allegations in the original order.

Under the order, Duff is prohibited from "directing the affairs of a Georgia mortgage broker or Georgia mortgage lender or from acting as a director, officer, partner, branch manager, agent, employee, equitable owner or any other equivalent role for a Georgia mortgage broker or Georgia mortgage lender for three years."

She also is prohibited from applying for a Georgia mortgage broker or lender license for the three-year period.

The order also states that Duff will cooperate with the department in any investigation of One World Mortgage Corp., a Duluth firm. It is not known whether Duff was associated with the mortgage company.

According to its Web site, One World is a mortgage brokerage firm.
