POSTED: November 24, 2007 5:21 a.m.

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands — Matt Causey, a former East Hall High player, scored 11 points, including a 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining, and Georgia Tech beat Notre Dame 70-69 on Monday night.

The shot from well behind the arc put the Yellow Jackets (3-2) ahead for the first time since the opening minutes and helped them take third place in the Paradise Jam.

Notre Dame (2-2) had one last chance, but a shot by Kyle McAlarney rimmed out at the buzzer.

Georgia Tech got 12 points each from Lewis Clinch, Anthony Morrow and Jeremis Smith, who also grabbed 13 rebounds.

Notre Dame jumped in front with an early 10-0 run that made it 12-6 on a layup by Zach Hillesland, and the Irish held a slim lead for most of the game. They grabbed their biggest advantage at 62-53 with 5:11 remaining.

As the Fighting Irish attempted to pull away, Georgia Tech stayed in the game with 8-for-11 shooting from 3-point range in the second half. Luke Harangody led Notre Dame with 22 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Rob Kurz added 15 points.

Georgia Tech shot 47 percent from the floor, and Notre Dame shot 41 percent.
