Fire destroys home in Flowery Branch

The Hall County Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 5:10 p.m. Sunday in the 5000 block of Overby Road in Flowery Branch. Audra Thompson and her 11-year-old daughter were home when the fire began in the garage. Hall County Fire Capt. Scott Cagle said the fire was possibly caused because of combustible items located too closely to the gas water heater. The home is valued at $175,000, and the fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage. No one was injured in the blaze.
