POSTED: November 20, 2007 5:04 a.m.

Previewing tonight's Marist/Habersham Central playoff game:

When: 7:30 tonight

Where: Mount Airy

Radio: 99.3 FM

Directions: From Gainesville, take US Interstate 985 North/Ga. 365 North to Clarkesville/Mt. Airy Exit (Hwy 197). Turn right from the exit. Schools is 3/10 of a mile ahead on the right.

Records: Habersham Central (9-1, No. 2 Region 8-AAAA); Marist (8-2, No. 3 Region 6-AAAA)

Coaches: Habersham Central, Gene Cathcart; Marist, Alan Chadwick

Key players: Habersham Central, WR Tavarres King (6-2, 170 Sr.); QB Bo Hatchett (6-1, 190 Sr.); WR/DB Josh Anderson (5-10 165 Sr.). Marist, QB Cooper Taylor (6-4, 184 Sr.), RB Derek Heyden (6-0, 180 Sr.), FB Matt Lewis (5-7 177, Sr.).

Outlook: Despite going unbeaten in 8-AAAA this season, seventh-ranked Habersham Central drew the No. 2 seed in the region’s subdivided format, and with it a tough draw in the first round of the playoffs.

Marist reached the state title game last season and have lost only twice this year — 30-0 to No. 2 Tucker, and 23-17 in overtime to Mays.

The War Eagles again feature a power running game based out of the wishbone, led by senior quarterback Cooper Taylor, and will test the Raiders’ talented front seven.

Prediction: HABERSHAM CENTRAL. In a game between two solid, well-coached team, the better talent wins out.
