Twice a year just wasn’t enough.

Donna and Peggy Cannella said people had been asking for years for another show in addition to the Braselton Antique & Artisan Festival in April and October.

Starting at noon Friday, June 23, Art-tiques Vintage Market will fill that void.

“This is like a pickers market,” Donna Cannella said.

The event has a different name, no direct-sell vendors and about half the booths of the other events.

“The show is going to be 100 booths, where normally I do over 200 booths,” she said. “So it’s going to be more a intimate setting. It’s still held on the streets of Downtown Braselton, the same location as the other two.”

There will still be antiques, local artists and refurbished items.

The two women had a few tips to make the most of their event.

Come early or come late

Donna: “Early birds usually come right when we open at noon on Friday because they want to get first pick at everything that people have out there. And then I have people that say they they don’t come until Sunday because they feel like they’re going to get the best deals because a lot of the vendors don’t want to carry their things home. You can look at it two different ways really.”

Do your research

Donna: “For me, how I know something is antique, you have to look at what the composition is. If it’s something that looks like it’s plastic, it’s not an antique. You have to know your stuff. You have to do your research.”

Peggy: “Know your product. Look for markings, anything that would distinguish it. Know what you’re looking for.”

Explore

Peggy: “Explore the festival. Don’t just shop at one vendor.”

Donna: “It’s spread out on Harrison Street, Frances Street and behind Countryside Antiques.”

Make a list

Peggy: “Bring a list so that you know what you’re looking for and know what you want to find.”

Donna: “There’s history behind pretty much everything, but buyers, beware. There are a lot of reproductions out there.”
