James and Debra Williamson of Suwanee announce the engagement of their daughter Laura Katherine "Katie" Williamson to Charles Clayton "Clay" Sanders, son of Charles and Sandra Sanders of Gainesville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Alfred and Beverly Cureton of Central, S.C., and Calvin and Laura Williamson of Pendleton, S.C.

She is a 2002 graduate of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee. She graduated in 2006 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in biology. She is pursuing a doctorate in medicine at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of John and Bobbie Smith of Mentone, Ala., and the late T.J. and Susie Sanders.

He is a 2002 graduate of Gainesville High School in Gainesville. He graduated in 2006 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor's degree in biology. He is employed as a biology teacher and assistant baseball coach at Gainesville High School.

The couple plan to wed July 11, 2009, at Saddlebrook Baptist Church in Suwanee.
