After a little over a month of waiting for customers, the Chick-fil-A in Oakwood is open for business again.

The fast food eatery closed March 10 for renovations before reopening Thursday. Oakwood Chick-fil-A marketing director Brittoni Garner said the improvements to the exterior are mostly cosmetic.

However, the inside of the store will make everything easier and more streamlined.

“(The inside) has been refreshed and updated,” Garner said. “We’ve got a large, brand-new kitchen, along with a modern seating layout in our dining room.”

Customers like Rene Davis have been craving Chick-fil-A’s food since the restaurant closed and are happy to see it reopen.

Davis said she accidentally visited the store while it was closed at least five times before remembering it was closed. While nearby Chick-fil-A restaurants were open in Flowery Branch and Gainesville, Davis said she prefers going to the Oakwood one.

“It is all about the speed for that location,” Davis said.

She said she has even timed how long it takes to get her food versus the other locations.

“(Oakwood staffers) are so fast and efficient. You can order, pay and be on your way in less than three minutes every time,” Davis said.

Garner was happy to hear the store runs quickly.

“We love that,” Garner said. “We understand that speed is a top priority for our guests, which means that we make it a top priority for our team.”

With the new kitchen, customers like Davis may see even quicker drive-thru lines.

“We’ve got a much more efficient kitchen that allows our team to better serve our guests,” Garner said.

Taylor Riley is excited to get back to her weekly Chick-fil-A runs on the way to her church.

“I love some Chick-fil-A,” Riley said.

She said she had moved closer to the location right before it closed for renovations.

“I'm pretty excited about them opening back up,” Riley said.
It was a busy day for Garner and her fellow employees.

“We have been busy (for breakfast) and are expecting a large crowd for lunch and dinner as word spreads that we are open,” Garner said.

The location is also hiring “energetic, outgoing team members” for both full-time and part-time positions.
