AT&T launches new wireless network in Hall County

Callers can share live video while chatting

POSTED: December 16, 2008 5:00 a.m.

AT&T has launched its 3G, "third generation," wireless broadband service in Hall County, allowing for faster and more advanced mobile services, officials announced Monday morning.

The network’s launch ensures "that our customers ... have the latest in wireless technology available, allowing them to access video, graphics, pictures, downloads, e-mail and more at speeds faster than before," said Keith Holmes, vice president and general manager for AT&T’s Georgia wireless unit.

With the new service, mobile phone users can share live video while carrying on a phone call.

AT&T’s 3G customers also can view video clips through CV, a streaming video service that offers content from several major TV networks.

"This investment in the latest wireless technology is good for business and consumers in Gainesville and throughout Hall County," said Kit Dunlap, president of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. The 3G network is now available in more than 355 U.S. metropolitan areas.
