Prep roundup: Riverside falls to Heirway

The Riverside Military Academy boys basketball team dropped its third game of the season, falling to 2-3 for the season, Tuesday with a 73-32 loss to undefeated Heirway-Douglasville.

The Eagles were led by Richard Tribble, who scored eight points. Seth Hollingsworth led Heirway-Douglasville (8-0) with 27 points.

Riverside plays Greater Gwinnett Christian at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Jefferson girls 52,
Athens Academy 17

Led by Brittney Crews and Mimi DuBose, the Lady Dragons won their fifth game of the season Tuesday night.

Crews scored 13 points and DuBose added 12 points. Kayla Edwards also reached double digits, scoring 10 points.

Jefferson (5-2) held the Lady Spartans in single digits in each quarter. The Lady Dragons will play host to Hart County on Friday.

Athens Academy 73,
Jefferson boys 71 (OT)

The Dragons fell to 3-4 for the season in an overtime loss to the Spartans on Tuesday. Athens Academy scored 10 overtime points to Jefferson’s eight.

Daruis Minor scored 20 points and Ronnie Lewis added 16 points. Chris Beck scored 13 points.

The Dragons will play host to Hart County on Friday.
