ATLANTA — Unbeaten Lowndes County remained No. 1 in Class AAAAA of the Georgia high school football poll in a week that saw few upsets of ranked teams.

The highest-ranked team to lose was LaGrange, which fell from No. 5 to No. 9 in Class AAA after a 24-0 loss to Carver-Columbus, which moved from No. 7 to No. 6.

The Grangers’ slip allowed Gainesville to jump up one spot to No. 5.

Lowndes remained a unanimous No. 1 with a 21-0 win over Coffee County.

Westside-Macon retained its unanimous top ranking in Class AAAA, beating Thomas County Central 51-0. Thomas County Central fell from No. 5 to a three-way tie for No. 10.

Cairo held onto No. 1 in Class AAA, Buford in AA and Emanuel County Institute in Class A.

Previously unranked Whitefield Academy took the No. 9 spot in Class A.

Eastside moved into the poll at No. 10 in AAA, and Villa Rica appeared in AAAA at No. 9, with another newcomer, North Clayton, moving up to the tie for No. 10.

In Class AAAAA, the only new arrival was Harrison at No. 10.

Jefferson held at No. 6 in Class AA.
