Local golf: CMGA plays three-best-ball outing

Herb Sckerl, Paul Payne, Geoff Derryberry and Bud Clegg teamed up to win the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association’s three-best-ball, Stableford points event last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Billy Shrader, Don Gage, Harmon Smith and Bob Watson finished in second place. Chuck Keith, Eddie Johnson, Buddy Reeves and Jim Hollobaugh came in third.

Closest to the pin winners were Gene Weschler (No. 3), Tom Sexton (No. 5) and Dick Bachman (No. 12 and No. 17).

CLGA: Ann Hollobaugh, Martha Shell and Bebe Blount won last Tuesday’s Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association event.

Mona White, Sue Cronmiller and Jackie Somerville tied Joyce Hosking, Ann White and Sally Woo for second place.

Closest to the pin winners were Hollobaugh (No. 3) and Hosking (No. 17).

LUNA’S TUESDAY: Bud Black, Daryl Dunckel, Al Raynes, and Jim Cornett took first place in last week’s Luna’s Tuesday golf group match at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Gene Weschler, Richard Strickland, Doug Van and Don Rogers came in second, and Joe Roberts, Tom Sexton, Tommy Lowery and Ken Chahoy placed third.

Closest to the pin winners were Lowery (No. 3, No. 12, and No. 17) and Van (No. 5).

DOGFIGHT: Jerry Horton, Wayne Strickland, Ken Dooley and Mike Tilson placed first in last week’s Wednesday dogfight event at Chicopee Woods.

Scott Holcomb, Henry Komoto, Will Lowe and Geoff Archibald took second, and Tommy Calhoun, Pat Ruiz, Tom Frier and Mike Simmons came in third.

Individually, Horton and Jim Arendt tied for first with scores of 66.
