John Bailey installs a new indoor playground set Monday afternoon at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. The playground project, which takes about 10 days to install, is one part of the church’s Children and Youth First Initiative and is being installed inside the new children’s wing of the church.

Along with the new indoor playground, the outdoor playground is getting refurbished as well as multiple tons of rubber mulch added to cushion possible hard landings.

In addition to an indoor playground the new wing will feature a worship space and classrooms.

Also at the church, construction on the south wing has begun with the expansion and enhancements of the youth area. It will also feature the Living Waters Worship space, and will have an elevator.

For those who wish to see the new children’s wing of the church, on Sunday, Sept. 7 from 2-5 p.m., there will be an open house for the public to visit the indoor playground.
