A firefighter injured when a truck’s ladder fell 44 feet on July 22 has been transferred to the Shepherd Center.

Will Griffin, a Hall County firefighter injured during a training exercise with Stephen Jackson and TJ Elliott, was originally taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by ambulance after the incident. On Friday, Griffin was discharged from the medical center and taken to the Atlanta-based Shepherd Center spinal cord injury unit.

Griffin “began a rigorous rehabilitation program under the guidance of a full team of medical and rehabilitation specialists,” the Shepherd Center wrote in a statement.

No further information was available from Grady Memorial Hospital officials on the status of Jackson or Elliott, who were taken to Grady from the incident scene.

Steven Woodworth, an assistant chief for the Atlanta fire department, said one of the firefighters at Grady Memorial Hospital had been released as of last week.
