POSTED: July 20, 2014 10:56 p.m.

A pregnant woman was killed late Sunday night as she crossed Ga. 365 near Mud Creek Road, according to law enforcement officials.

The unidentified white female was crossing the southbound lanes of Ga. 365 near a Kangaroo convenience store when she was struck by a car at 9:30 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol. The driver attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the woman, but struck her with the front of the car.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Jonathan Munger described the street as a rural county road with no street lights or stop lights in northeast Hall County.

Following the accident, officials discovered the victim was pregnant. She and the child were pronounced dead at the scene.
