High school football: Very little movement in AP polls

POSTED: October 25, 2008 5:00 a.m.

ATLANTA — With two teams out, two new ones in and a couple exchanging places Class A leads a week of little movement in the Associated Press high school football poll.

Both Johnson County and Miller County exit the rankings allowing Savannah Christian Prep and Bremen to enter and share the No. 9 slot. No. 8 Turner County moves up a notch while No. 4 Clinch County and No. 5 Brookstone flip-flop. All other positions remain the same with Emanuel County Institute the unanimous No. 1.

Although Westminster won, it came up short in the voting allowing Brooks County to enter the Class AA rankings and take their place at No. 10. The only other changes are No. 4 Appling County and No. 5 Dublin changing places. Buford still holds the top spot, and Jefferson remains at No. 8

In Class AAAA, Mays lost 18-14 to Banneker on Saturday, and falls three slots to share No. 9 with newcomer Southwest DeKalb. No. 6 Rome moves up two with No. 8 Sequoyah advancing one. All others remain with Westside-Macon receiving all first-place votes.

Class AAAAA welcomed Coffee County into East Paulding's No. 9 slot representing the league's only change.

And speaking of singular change — No. 8 Carver-Columbus and No. 9 Carrollton flip-flopped in the Class AAA rankings, where Gainesville held at No. 6.
