Felton joins Norton Agency realty group

Mike Felton, certified commercial investment manager, has joined The Norton Agency — Commercial Acreage Group as associate vice president, the company has announced.

Felton joins Norton after a 26-year industrial construction and commercial brokerage career. He is a graduate of Gainesville High School and Southern Tech and has an MBA from Georgia State. In 2008, he completed his CCIM designation, the highest attainable in the commercial real estate industry.

Felton will be based in Norton’s Commercial Acreage’s Gainesville headquarters and will specialize in the vibrant South Hall commercial market and a surrounding five-county region.

The Norton Agency is Georgia’s largest, oldest and most successful independent real estate and insurance firm. The commercial division has five regional service centers covering 65 counties in four states.

Times makes promotions, addition to newsroom

The Times has moved several people into new roles in the newsroom.

J.K. Devine has been promoted to Life editor. Michelle Boaen Jameson is now Senior Features & Magazine Editor.

Devine served as assistant Life editor at The Times since April 2013. She previously worked as a copy editor and page designer at the Citrus County Chronicle in Crystal River, Fla., and The Daily Sun in The Villages, Fla. Devine started her career as a reporter at two newspapers in Tennessee.

She graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in communication.

Carly Sharec was promoted to editor of The Paper of Flowery Branch, a weekly publication.

Sharec has worked for the past year as The Times’ education reporter. She previously worked as news editor for the Times-Enterprise of Thomasville and a reporter for the Times-Courier of Ellijay. She graduated from Berry College in 2007 with a degree in communications and graduated in 2005 from Young Harris College.

Savannah King has been promoted to digital and social media specialist at The Times. She will focus on increasing The Times’ video presence, including productions such as the Weekend Preview that appears each Thursday.

King started at The Times as an obituary clerk and was promoted to newsroom clerk. She then became full-time features writer.

King graduated from the University of West Florida.

Elizabeth Brewer has joined the copy desk as lead designer. She has worked at The Augusta Chronicle, The Greenville (S.C.) News and The Honolulu Advertiser, as well as the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.

She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in English.

“We’re excited about the new roles and new faces and what they can bring to our readers,” Managing Editor Keith Albertson said. “We are assembling a first-class team to make our newspaper, website and other delivery platforms better in every way.”

Gresham, Baldwin earn awards at Edward Jones

Lance R. Gresham of Gainesville has earned the Edward Jones Sr. Founders Award, and Beth Baldwin has won the firm’s Jack Phelan Award.

Both awards recognize exceptional achievement in building client relationships.

“It’s truly an honor to be recognized for building relationships with those clients we serve,” Gresham said. “And it is also quite inspirational to receive an award named after a firm legend such as Edward Jones Sr. who was so innovative and recognized the need for quality financial advice for long-term individual investors.”

Edward Jones, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in St. Louis, provides financial services for individual investors in the United States and, through its affiliate, Canada.
