Survey: We want to hear what our readers have to say

POSTED: July 7, 2014 1:14 a.m.

The Times and gainesvilletimes.com are asking local residents for their help in shaping local media coverage of the future.

Beginning today, area residents can participate in a far-ranging readership survey, the results of which will help determine the focus of the newspaper and its website in the years to come.

“We are very aware that readership patterns and interests have changed dramatically in recent years, and we hope our readers, and nonreaders, will participate in this survey to help us build a plan for better serving them and the community,” said Norman Baggs, general manager of The Times.

The survey asks for input on a broad range of topics, including content preferences and preferred delivery platforms.

“Modern technology and the incredible access we all have to information of all sorts have changed the playing field for local news gathering companies,” Baggs said. “We want to learn more about what residents of the area want from their newspaper and website, and how we can provide the information they need in the most convenient way possible, while still operating within a viable business model.”

Participation in the survey is easy. Simply visit www.gainesvilletimes.com and look for the prompts, or go straight to the online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/TheTimesReadership.

All participants in the survey will be registered for an opportunity to win an iPad mini.

“We need to hear from our customers, and we promise to listen to what they have to say in developing strategies for the future,” Baggs said.
