Funds set up for families killed in Monday wreck

POSTED: July 2, 2014 10:11 a.m.

Funds have been set up for the two families involved in the Monday morning wreck that killed two adults and three children.

Amanda Pardue, 34, Robbie Hollis, 52, both of Gainesville, and children Dalton Martin, 13, Kaleigh Emfinger, 8, and Eli Emfinger, 2, died when their Ford Explorer crossed into the path of a tractor-trailer on Athens Highway at Oak Grove Road.

Dalton Martin is the grandson of Hollis, neither of whom had life insurance policies, according to a page at gofundme.com.

“We are reaching out to the public to help us give them a proper burial,” Janice Martin wrote on the page. So far, $1,700 has been raised at gofundme.com.

Martin attended East Hall Middle School, where Principal Vickie Tribble said she and other educators found the news heartbreaking.

“You have students in your class, and you work with them every day,” she said. “You see student challenges, you see student achievement, and as a teacher of that student, you feel so much a part of their life. And then when you have the shocking news, it’s just beyond words.”

East Hall Middle School will be providing the blanket for the casket, Tribble said.

Donations may also be made by calling Memorial Park Funeral Home at 770-287-8227 and asking for Kevin.

For Pardue and her family, an account has been set up at BB&T at 455 Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville.

A joint funeral is set for 3 p.m. today at Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel for Pardue and her two children, Kaleigh and Eli. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family is survived by Pardue’s fiance Craig Emfinger and the children’s brothers Ethan Emfinger and Austin Millwood.

It is still not clear why the SUV failed to maintain its lane, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The tractor-trailer driver, Eric Franklin Eberhardt, 34, of Commerce, was treated for his injuries and released.
