Theater troupe to probe Washington Heights life

POSTED: June 19, 2014 1:00 a.m.

The vibrant community in New York City’s Washington Heights neighborhood is on the brink of change.

A cast of characters with the Red Phoenix Theatre Company explores those adjustments in the musical setting of “In the Heights.”

“In The Heights” tells the universal story about a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. Full of hopes and dreams, the neighborhood’s residents deal with pressures such as deciding which traditions to keep or leave behind.

Winner of four Tony awards, “In the Heights” will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Buford Community Theatre, 2200 Buford Highway, Buford.

Tickets range from $16.82 to $22.09.
