Christmas is coming early to Clarkesville.

The Habersham Community Theatre is presenting “Christmas Belles” during the next two weekend at its theater in Clarkesville.

The story centers on the Futrelle sisters — Frankie, Twink and Honey Raye — who are not exactly in the festive Christmas mood in Fayro, Texas.

A cranky Frankie (Jennifer Benson) is weeks overdue with her second set of twins. Twink (Alta Moseley), recently jilted and bitter about it, is in jail for inadvertently burning down half the town. And hot-flash-suffering Honey Raye (Alison Singer) is desperately trying to keep the Tabernacle of the Lamb’s Christmas Program from spiraling into chaos.

Thrown into the mix is Miss Geneva (Emily Brown), the ousted director of the previous 27 productions, who wants to take over the show. The celebrity guest Santa Claus — played by Frankie’s long-suffering husband, Dub (Zach Brookshire) — is passing a kidney stone. And the entire cast is dropping like flies due to food poisoning from the Band Boosters’ Pancake Supper.

Then when Frankie lets slip a family secret that has been guarded for decades, all hope for a successful Christmas program seems lost. But in true Futrelle fashion, the feuding sisters find a way to pull together.

Performances of “Christmas Belles” will be 7:30 p.m. June 13-14 and June 19-21 and 2 p.m. June 15 and 22, at 1370 Washington St., Clarkesville.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children and full-time students. Purchase tickets online at www.habershamtheater.org or call 706-839-1315.
