Wesley Roach named new Enota principal

POSTED: June 2, 2014 9:00 p.m.

Calhoun resident Wesley Roach has been announced as the new principal at Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy.

“My wife and I are very excited about coming and being a part of the Gainesville community,” he said. “We’re looking forward to it.”

Roach has been the principal of Excel Christian Academy in Cartersville since 2011. Before that, he was the principal of Calhoun Elementary School beginning in 2008.

Incoming Gainesville Superintendent Wanda Creel said the selection process included the school’s governance council.

“We had our governance council, made up of 12 members from parents to community members to teachers, that came and did a paper screen,” she said. “Looking at the resumes, layers of interests, those types of things.”

There were 18 resumes; the governance council chose four of those applicants to be interviewed. Roach was the governance council’s recommendation, Creel said.

“He brings principalship experience,” she added. “The administrative team at Enota is such a strong, strong team. (The governance council was) looking to create that strong team moving forward. Looking at the experiences that he brings and the administrative people that are there in place, they feel like this is the team that can help us continue to move Enota forward.”

Roach is replacing Matt Maynor, who Creel said is returning to his hometown to be close to family. The announcement was made during the Board of Education’s Monday evening work session.
