The Local Agenda: Gainesville City Council moving toward budget adoption

Gainesville City Council will meet Thursday for a work session to discuss the fiscal year 2015 budget and ad valorem tax rate.

City Council will likely vote to adopt the budget when it meets June 3.

City Manager Kip Padgett has proposed a $30.3 million budget and no tax increases.

The council work session will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday in room 301 of the administration building, 300 Henry Ward Way.

Gibbs to host open house on budget, public safety issues

Hall County Commissioner Scott Gibbs will host an open house at 6 p.m. June 3 at the North Hall Park Community Center.

Topics will include the fiscal year 2015 budget, public safety and other issues of interest to District 3 residents.

Finance, public works, human resources, parks and leisure, and sheriff’s office officials will be on hand to respond to resident inquiries.

North Hall Park is at 4175 Nopone Road in Gainesville.

Flowery Branch updates council meeting schedule

The June 5 Flowery Branch City Council meeting has been canceled and rescheduled for 6 p.m. June 12. A July 6 meeting has also been canceled in favor of a June 26 meeting.
